Hrvatski jezik je skupni naziv za standardni jezik Hrvata, i za skup narječja (štokavskoga, kajkavskoga, čakavskoga) i govora kojima govore ili su nekada govorili Hrvati. Njime govori oko 7 milijuna ljudi, poglavito Hrvata. Hrvatski je službeni jezik Republike Hrvatske i jedan od tri službena jezika Bosne i Hercegovine, jedan od sedam službenih jezika AP Vojvodine (Srbija), kao i jedan od službenih jezika Crne Gore. Lokalni idiomi hrvatskoga koriste se kao službeni jezik u pojedinim općinama u austrijskoj saveznoj zemlji Gradišću (Burgenland), odnosno u talijanskoj provinciji Moliseu.
