Maltese Language:
Maltese (Malti) is the national language of Malta, and a co-official language of the country alongside English, while also serving as an official language of the European Union, the only Semitic language so distinguished. Maltese is descended from Siculo-Arabic (the Arabic dialect that developed in Malta and Sicily between the ninth and the fourteenth centuries). About half of the vocabulary is borrowed from Italian and Sicilian, and English words represents about 20% of the Maltese vocabulary. It is the only Semitic language written in the Latin alphabet in its standard form.

Lithuanian Language:
Lithuanian (lietuviu kalba) is the official state language of Lithuania and is recognized as one of the official languages of the European Union. There are about 3 million native Lithuanian speakers in Lithuania and about 170,000 abroad. Lithuanian is a Baltic language, closely related to Latvian, although they are not mutually intelligible. It is written in an adapted version of the Roman script. The Lithuanian language is believed to be the most conservative living Indo-European language, retaining many features of Proto Indo-European now lost in other Indo-European languages.

Lietuvių kalba yra labiausiai vartojama iš rytų baltų kalbų. Ja šneka apie 3 mln. žmonių Lietuvoje, šiek tiek Baltarusijoje ir Lenkijos šiaurės rytuose (vadinamos lietuvių kalbos salos). Iki Antrojo pasaulinio karo lietuvių gyventa ir Rytų Prūsijoje, kur nuo XVI a. vidurio buvo išsiplėtusi lietuvių literatūrinė bei kultūrinė veikla.
