Bulgarian is an Indo-European language, a member of the Slavic linguistic group. Bulgarian has several linguistic characteristics that set it apart from all other Slavic languages, such as the elimination of case declension, the development of a suffixed definite article, the lack of a verb infinitive, and the retention and further development of the Proto-Slavic verb system. Swedish (svenska) is a North Germanic language, spoken by approximately 10 million people, predominantly in Sweden and parts of Finland, especially along its coast and on the Aland islands.
